NICOLE GARDNER
District A City Councilor
A bit about me
My husband David and I moved here five years ago to be closer to our wonderful kids. We love living here the East End, thanks to our vibrant mix of cultural institutions, businesses & restaurants, our beautiful public spaces, and most of all, our close-knit community.
I've been active in Watertown from the start, focusing on my values of community, equity, and sustainability. Among the things I've done:
-
Founded Buy Nothing Watertown & Watertown Rethinks Consumption on Facebook, groups that help us lighten our footprint on the earth. Buy Nothing Watertown also helps us meet neighbors & strengthen community connections
-
Active member of the Watertown Business Coalition
-
Board Member & Treasurer of World in Watertown
-
Steering Committee of Watertown Forward, a non-partisan group whose mission is to educate, empower, and engage the Watertown community in local government and our recent charter revision
I am now retired. I ended my paid career at Perkins School for the Blind, where I created and led Career Launch, a program that helps young adults who are blind or visually-impaired successfully enter the workforce. Before that, I had a 35 year career as a consultant and business executive in Marsh McLennan, a global professional services firm.
I hold an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Wellesley College. I enjoy being in the natural world, reading & theater, duplicate bridge, and travel. Most of all I love being with family and friends.
